1. October is here and the leaves are changing. Fall is in the air.

The nights are getting cooler and the days are much more comfortable than they were a few months ago - at least for those of us who prefer cooler weather.

We're starting to see the leaves change and before much longer our mountains will be covered with trees, bushes, and plants wearing their finest fall foliage.

Halloween Costume Contest

Heather Rice, owner of Rumors Clothing, wants everyone to know about the Halloween Costume Contest that will be held at Brothers Landing on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 2:00 pm.

Top prize is $50.00 cash.

This will be held in conjunction with SAFE Trick or Treat, hosted by Brothers Landing, 5718 Hwy 64 W, Murphy, NC 28906, on October 31st from Noon until 4:00 pm.

There will be face painting, tattoos, games, snacks, drinks, prizes, free Halloween costume pictures, and free makeup applications for the ladies.

7. Updates and Changes

New Hours:

The Village Grill has recently changed its business hours. They are no longer serving dinner so they can concentrate more on breakfast and lunch.

The Village Grill is now open seven days a week from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm.

New Locations

Moved:

Rumors Clothing has moved, but they are still located in Brothers Landing. Heather decided to move a few doors down to the left and Rumors Clothing is now located next to Tranquility Hair and Tanning Salon.

Business Closures

Starting October 9, 2009, the Henn Theatre will be closed for one week for cleaning and general maintenance. It will reopen on Friday, October 16, 2009 with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
