Welcome to Murphy

Murphy, North Carolina is a great place to live and raise a family. Later in life, it can be a wonderful location for a second home or a place to retire and get away from all the noise, hassles, traffic, and other reasons to leave the big cities and enjoy a low-stress lifestyle.
Our small mountain town is in Cherokee County, the western-most county in North Carolina. It is conveniently located to five cities (Atlanta, Georgia; Knoxville, Tennessee; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Asheville, North Carolina; and Greenville, South Carolina) that are approximately a two-hour drive away for when you want to enjoy what those cities offer.
You will find that Murphy, NC offers scenic beauty, friendly people, and all the benefits of living in or near a small town in a rural mountain area that is closer to the Great Smoky Mountains than it is to the nearest traffic jam.
Local Business Directory - All businesses sorted by business category.
The businesses featured on Murphy Gold are all owned by people who live here. While some people prefer to take their business to large national chains, some of us prefer to do business with people we know and trust.
If you share that philosophy, you'll find information about a growing number of small business owners who live and work here.
By supporting local small businesses, you can do your part to grow our local economy and that's one of the ways a small town can thrive.
The owners of these locally-owned businesses offer great value and superior service to you, their customer.
